BioWe're all familiar with the saying 'born with a silver spoon in her mouth' to describe someone who was born into wealth and privelege. In the case of Celeste Huntington, that spoon wasn't silver, it was platinum.
The daughter of Miranda Kant and (ostensibly) Arthur Huntington, Celeste has never known what it is to truly want for anything. Her mother saw to it that her every wish came true, and was rewarded with a child who didn't have nearly enough imagination to ask for anything truly outlandish. Private tutors came and went, for every subject Miranda could think of, and even Celeste's first steps were taken with a book on her head, learning correct posture from the beginning.
If one were to find any flaws in the girl's upbringing, the singular thing that might stand out is that nothing was ever asked of her, and so she grew up without even a hint of her mother's quite considerable ambition. Not even her tutors were allowed to demand excellence of their pupil, and while she performed well enough in her lessons, 'well enough' seemed to be the pinnacle of her achievement.
In fact, even her first use of magic is only worth mention because it was her only use of magic, occurring late in her eighth year. A dress that had been ordered from a tailor in Paris arrived in the wrong color, and in the midst of a tantrum about the wrong shade, it was noticed that the garment had suddenly turned the proper hue. Celeste was more concerned with the dress than the bit of magic, though it was the magic that assured her entry into Hogwarts.
Her letter was received with less enthusiasm than might be expected, but with no real pressure from her mother, she doesn't really understand how different the world of Hogwarts will be from the one she knows. Pampered, spoiled, and more than a little arrogant, she has no ambitions whatsoever, and while she had an etiquette teacher to school her in manners, she has no experience whatsoever in dealing with children her own age.
